Strength & Hope and Lots of Prayers

Card created by Lianne Carper using the new Strength & Hope stamp set by Stampin' Up!Today’s post is very near and dear to my heart.  Next month, a new set will be debuting in the new Summer Mini Catalog that benefits The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  I purchased it right away when I saw it due to the fact that I have 4 people very dear to me that have had to battle with different types of cancer.

For starters, Brenda has been cancer free for several years now.  1-1/2 years ago, my friend Ginger found out she had ovarian cancer, but once she had surgery, also became cancer free.

This past Sunday, we got a double-whammy of good news.  My father-in-law who has been battling prostate cancer for several years now, is 100% cancer free and off all medications.  But the true miracle has to be my dear friend Jessica.

Card created by Lianne Carper using the new Strength & Hope stamp set by Stampin' Up!Last Summer, at age 32, Jessica was diagnosed with Stage III Glioma cancer and the doctors estimated that she had approximately 2 years to live.  However, through the power of prayer, faith, research, technology and good old fashioned determination on Jessica’s part, she is now cancer free.  This is truly amazing.  I just found out this astonishing news on Sunday within about 30 minutes of my Father-in-law’s news.  What a phenomenal day.  I think I hugged Jessica about 20 times.lol.

So this card is for her.  If you look at the words behind the H in the circle, it’s a word stamp that comes with this new Strength & Hope stamp set and I think it portrays Jessica and her situation perfectly.  It says “courage hope believe unity survivor caring together love kindness support strength blessed thank you“.

OK, now let’s talk about my card.  Along with the Strength & Hope stamp set, I used the Springtime Vintage designer paper which is only available through the end of this month.  This paper is breathtaking and if you haven’t already picked some up, you may want to do so quickly – or you might want to grab some more if it’s one of your favorites.  I also added some of the beautiful Rosettes and Seam Binding that is in the 2011 Occasions Mini catalog.

imageMy layout is inspired by a card created by Julee Tilman and is the March muse over at the CASE study challenge blog.  This challenge is a bit different than others as you look at this card and draw whatever inspiration you like from it.  I chose the layout and the butterfly, but it could just as easily been the color green, the decorative bottom border or the stitching around the edges.

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.  We’ve got some storms moving through today, so it’s a great day to stay inside and get some stamping done!

If you have any questions about today’s share, please let me know.

Happy Stamping :)

What a lovely card Lianne, I just adore this stamp set. I am a UK SU demo and just love to use this since it’s launch last Friday in the mimi catalogue.

Thank you for sharing such positive stories that could so easily have not been such happy news! I too have had 2 bouts of skin cancer (on the soles of my feet!) but thankfully cancer free now.

I adore your blog, and thanks again for sharing your wonderful creations and stories with us.
    Luv Lynne
