Friend Valentine Card

Uncategorized

10310_Friend (550x193)

As promised, here is another card using Baroque Motifs. Do you think that I may adore this stamp set?  I also used the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set, which will be available January 5. If you do not already have your Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs, let me know and I will get one out to you.

This was sort of an experimental card for me, in regards to the background. You know how it is when you are playing around and you come up with something that you like.

Here is how I did it:

First, I cut my Basic Black card base and scored. Then I cut a piece of Apricot Appeal cardstock for my card front.

I {Heart} Hearts, Baroque Motifs

Next, I stamped Baroque Motifs with Versamark and sprinkled Black embossing powder and embossed with the heat gun. Then I stamped the “Friend” stamp with Rose Red classic ink on Apricot Appeal cardstock and punched it out with the Heart punch.

I kept looking at what I had created so far and kept thinking that this was just to plain, so I took Versamark and started randomly stamping the small heart (also from the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set). That was still not enough, so I took and stamped the small heart with Apricot Appeal classic ink. I purposely stamped offset on many of the already stamped Versamark hearts and strategically positioned others. In this case, I believe more was better! NOTE: The embossing acted as a resist and I was able to stamp the small hearts anywhere on the cardstock.

Then I adhered the card front to the base and completed the card by attaching the heart to the card front with dimensionals.

Well, breakfast is almost ready – Can’t you smell the country link sausage cooking now!

On Your Birthday – My First Card of 2010

Uncategorized

10210 (1) (550x147)

I needed to make several cards for upcoming birthdays, so I figured I would go ahead and share them with you too! Tomorrow, I will show you a different card using Baroque Motifs, with a different theme! For the sentiment, I used a stamp from the “On Your Birthday” set. I tried something different (for me) on the flowers.

Here is how I did it:

I cut and scored the black card base. I then cut out the card front from Naturals cardstock. I chose the Naturals cardstock because it had flecks in it and I knew that I wanted to speckle the flower petals.

Baroque Motifs, On Your BirthdayNext, I took the Baroque Motifs flourish and stamped with Versamark and sprinkled Black embossing powder over the flourish and embossed with the heat gun.

Then I took 2 of the flowers from the Pretties Kit and applied pastel chalks on both sides of the flowers with a cotton ball. Then I headed to the kitchen sink with a Basic Black reinker bottle and an old toothbrush, laid the flowers into the dry sink and speckled the flowers by dragging backwards on the brush with my fingertip. WARNING: Wear a disposable glove on the hand that you will stroke the toothbrush with. If you don’t, you will have a inky fingertip like I have right now!

Next, I used the Stamp Ma Jig and stamped the sentiment. Lastly, I took the brads and put through the flowers and secured to the card front. Once you have it all together, adhere the card front to the card base.

Day 8 – Upsy Daisy

General

2009_12_4_UpsyDaisy (1) (550x203)

Today we bring you another CASEd card by carol_PA925.  This one was a doozy, but upon completion of our making multiple cards on this one, we were pleased.

We made the card bases out of So Saffron and Pretty in Pink CS and took Baroque Motifs and stamped on the card base with Whisper White craft ink and dried it with the heat gun to keep from smearing the ink.  NOTE: Craft inks take longer to dry. Then we cleaned the stamp and used Basic Black ink to strategically stamp again on the So Saffron CS. Even though this ink dries pretty quickly, we opted to use the heat gun on it also, as we did not want to take any chances of it smearing.

We then used black embossing powder and the heat gun on the Upsy Daisy stamp to use as the focal point. The sentiment(s) came from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Well, we have one more full day of Lianne’s visit to Tarboro. I wish she was here all of the time, as I thoroughly enjoy creating regularly when she is around. She definitely inspires me and quite often gets me out of my "comfort zone” with new techniques. It is really cool to watch how she approaches her creative endeavors.

We will showcase a new project tomorrow and have a special treat coming up for you after that – so stay tuned!

More Butterflies

General

Well, just one more butterfly.for now!  Have you seen the Hostess Level 1 set called God’s Beauty?  Or rather.have you truly NOTICED it?  I’ve looked at it probably 100 times since the new catalog came out and although I thought it was pretty, it wasn’t one of those “OMGosh, I have to have that set” kinda stamp sets.  However, on one of my last orders, I decided to get it and WOWSERS!  Am I ever glad I did.  The butterfly is stunning – especially when he’s decked out with embossing powder!  I can see I’m going to be using this butterfly again and again long after this catalog expires and he’s retired.

On this one, I stamped him in Basic Black and then stamped again using VersaMark and applied Glassy Glaze Enamel embossing powder and it added a ton of dimension.  I colored in the wings using So Saffron and Regal Rose and blended the colors together a bit with a Blender Pen. Then I cut him out and glued him on!

I have a little trick to share that I do with my butterflies to get their wings to stand up.  After cutting them out, fold them in half.  In this case, I used my Bone Folder to draw “fold lines” on the outside edges of his body and then folded the wings up.  Next, use a good liquid adhesive (Tombow or Crystal Effects, etc.) to glue his body or the center of the butterfly down.  Let this dry thoroughly if you used a liquid glue.  Then put a pop dot or a Dimensional under each wing.  The closer you slide the dimensional, the higher the wings will be held up.  For just a little dimension, put them near the tips of the wings.  For more, put them near the body.

Anyway, this card was originally a complete CASE of a card made by saffivort over at SCS.  I fell in love with her card although I didn’t have the sentiment.  When I set out to make this card, I had every intention of just making it the way she had it and forego adding a sentiment.  I figured this would make a great “general use” card.  However, once I got it finished, I realized that it was definitely missing something without that sentiment there.  Sure it had some great white space – but I haven’t learned how to leave white space alone :) yet.  So that’s when I reached for the God’s Beauty stamp set and went to town.  All in all, I love the way it turned out and it’s still a general use card.it just has an important message to go along with it now.

Thanks for looking!
