Stampin’ Up! announced that several of the stamp sets on the
dormant list will be retiring as of January 4, 2010.  On that list or retiring stamps is one of my very favorite stamp sets, Branch Out (#113200).  So I wanted to use it one more time before it was gone.  I’m sure I’ll continue to use this one as I just love it, I just may not showcase it any longer on the blog.
You can see the rest of the retiring stamps at the bottom of this post.

For these cards, I CASEd a card I saw over at SCS by
Love to Stamp too.  Because there is no sentiment included on the card, it’s perfect for birthday, Spring, thank you or just because.
Here’s how I did it:
(Note:  my instructions will be fore the green version of the card.  For the blue version, I substituted Ballet Blue card stock for the Old Olive card stock.)
- On a 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece of watercolor paper, stamp the foliage stamp from Branch Out randomly using Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss (retired) and Pretty in Pink Classic Ink.
- Using a spray bottle, spray a light mist of water onto the stamped image.  This softens the foliage just a bit and gives it that watercolor look.  Let dry completely.
- Stamp the tree using Chocolate Chip ink and then add the tire swing using Basic Black.  Mount the stamped image onto a piece of  3″ x 4″ piece of Old Olive card stock.
- Mount a 1-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ strip of pink plaid from the Pawsitively Prints designer paper to a 1-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Old Olive card stock.  Place 3 silver brads at the top right corner as shown.
- Randomly stamp the butterfly stamp using Pretty in Pink ink on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Pretty in Pink card stock.
- Cut a strip of White Organza ribbon to wrap around the front of the card.  Tie a bow around the ribbon and slide to the left side.  Glue this to the Old Olive card base.
- Glue the designer paper with the brads into the top left corner leaving a 1/8″ pink border.
- Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, attach the stamped image to card front leaving a 1/8″ pink border around the bottom and right edges as shown.
- Using the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch, punch a circle from Old Olive card stock.  Punch a circle from designer paper using the 1″ Circle Punch and attach to the Old Olive circle.  Make a loop with a 2-1/2″ piece of Organza ribbon with the ends overlapping a bit.  Flatten out the loop so that the ends are in overlapped in the center bottom and stitch to the card stock circles.  Cinch together the middle of the ribbon and stitch the button on the top.  Glue this to the card front in the bottom right corner as shown.
Now, onto the retiring dormant stamps.  You can view all of the dormant stamps
here.  However, below is a list of the ones retiring on January 4, 2010.  You’ll need to get your order in prior to that to get these stamps before they are gone forever.
