I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.  We went to our local state park this weekend and rode bikes, had a picnic and let Lexi play at the park.  Gotta love the Spring weather we’ve been having.  Flowers are beginning to bloom and we saw several bumble bees flying around.  Which leads me to today’s card.

Chris is hosting a
Bug or Little Critters card swap here at CARDScraps so I pulled out my Love Bug stamp set and created this little cutie today.  The pastel colors in the Shades of Spring designer paper go perfect with this set.  The sentiment I used is from the Something Sweet stamp set in the
2010 Occasions Mini Catalog.  Because the sentiment is rather generic, the card can be used for birthday, Easter or just to wish someone a great day.
Do you recognize the format?  I CASED the
Child’s Fox & Friends Birthday Card that I created a few weeks ago.  I used the same dimensions from the project sheet.  I simply changed swapped out the papers and stamp set and ended up with a simple card.  So just because you don’t have the same stamp set or papers used in the project sheets, doesn’t mean you can’t still use them.  Just use the papers and stamps you have on hand.

My daughter created this card with me today and I wanted to show you her version as well.  I’m so proud of her.  She’s only 6 and loves to create cards. The only part of her card that I did was tie the bow (check out our
Quick and Simple Bow tutorial here).  I love her version of the white gel pen “stitching” around the flower.  She asked me “so we do a dot and then a line and then another dot?”  When I told her yes, she says, “well, mine is going to have two dots in between the lines.”  I know it’s something minor, but I love that she does use her imagination and make changes when she sees fit.  She decided to use her own colored pencils rather than use markers this time.
She got lucky when she stamped her sentiment.  Although she practiced it a few times on scrap paper.  She would slowly move the stamp towards her paper until she got about 4-5 inches away and then she would stamp really quick.  I kept telling her that she needed to stamp a little slower but she did in on her card the same way and it turned out great.  It would never have worked out that good for me.lol.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post.  If you have any questions, please let me know.
Happy Stamping
