Lightbulb Brenda's Birthday Card

It’s not often that I create a blog post and set it to post on another date, but in this case, I had to.  You see the card I’m showing you today is the one that I created for Brenda for her birthday.  Her birthday was this past Tuesday, but since I’m going to be at her house from the 26th til the 29th, rather than mail it, I am giving it to her in person.  So, of course this means that I can’t post it on the blog until she has actually seen it – wouldn’t want to ruin it now would we?  And since I’m not going to be home to do the blog post, I’m setting it up ahead of time.

This card didn’t quite turn out like I had envisioned it, but I still think it’s cute.  I’m going to have to try this layout with different papers, colors, stamps, etc and see if I like it better.  I didn’t limit myself to Stampin’ Up! stuff this time although there are still very few items non-SU.  I created the cupcake top with pink tissue paper wrapped around a 1-3/4″ circle of Pretty in Pink.  You can click on the image to see a larger view of it if you’d like.  The bottom of the cupcake was made by scalloping one edge of a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock and then running it through the crimper and then trimming it on a diagonal.

All in all, I’m pleased with the way the card turned out, but I think if I had to do it over again, I would probably use either Old Olive or Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon instead of the Whisper White.

I hope you like it – and I hope she likes it.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Meanwhile, I’ll be enjoying my visit to Tarboro, NC!

Happy Stamping
