I actually made this card last week, but I didn’t get a chance to show it to you before I left for the holiday weekend to go camping.  When I started this card, I wasn’t really sure how it was going to turn out or where I was really going with it.  All in all, I think it turned out quite elegant.

This is one of those cards that looks better in real life.  The camera doesn’t capture the glitz on this card at all.  I made my own Shimmer Mist with the Champagne Shimmer Paint (still available) and some alcohol.  Just get yourself a small spray bottle, like the travel size from bottles from Walmart, and fill it with standard isopropyl alcohol.  Then put 3-5 drops of the Shimmer Paint in it and shake it up.  You need to make sure you shake it up really well each time you go to use it as the shimmer does seem to settle at the bottom after sitting for a while.  But wow – it looks spectacular.   I have applied it to all of the paper except for the card base.
The large designer paper you see on the card base is actually the Presto Patterns Specialty Paper from the
2010 Summer Mini Catalog.  I LOVE this paper.  It’s actually white with shimmery images which you can sponge or brayer and make it any color you want.  The shimmery images resist the ink just as if it was embossed.  For this card, I used my brayer with Sahara Sand ink.

I did the Stained Glass Technique on the main image.  You can download instructions for this technique from our
Resources –
Techniques Section.  I glued the stained glass vellum to a piece of Whisper White card stock which I had stamped with the En Francais background stamp.
On the inside of the card, I stamped the flowers using Sahara Sand ink and then the Congratulations sentiment from the Well Scripted stamp set in Basic Black ink.  This piece was also sprayed with my homemade shimmer mist before adhering to the card.
I’d love to hear what you think about today’s card.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Remember you can click on the images to see them a bit larger.
