I had a wonderful time today making this card.  I was excited about working with the sketch that I made and
posted yesterday.  I knew it was going to be a fun one to work with.  On top of that, I got to play with some of the new papers coming out next week when the new Stampin’ Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog comes out.

The stamp set I used is from the
2010 Summer Mini Catalog called Little Bit of Magic.  I played with the other fairy in that stamp set a while back, but this is the first time I got this one inky!  I didn’t even realize it until I colored it that she’s holding a paintbrush in her hand and painting the flower – too cute!
I used the Blender Pen quite a bit on this one.  I don’t pull out the Blender Pen very often – but I’m very pleased with the result.  I really got the shading I was looking for by blending different shades together.
Doesn’t she look like she’s popping right off the paper?  That’s a cool little trick.  I used the Sahara Sand marker and traced around the edges of the stamped image.  I made very thin lines on the top left and heavier lines on the right and bottom of the images.  This gives the illusion of a light source and shadows.  LOVE IT!  You can click on the images to view a bigger shot of them if you’d like a closer look.

Did you notice that my buttons are sewn together?  I saw this on another blog a while back and thought it was kinda cool.  I had forgot about it until today when I started sewing my buttons to my card.  Figured I’d see how it looked.  Not too shabby!
Anyway – I hope you like my card.  But more than that – I hope you’ll participate in our Sketch Challenge.  I’m just itchin’ to see more cards using this sketch!
Hope you have a wonderful evening!
Happy Stamping
