Lightbulb A Designer Paper Patchwork Purse

Well I have created another one of the patchwork bags and I have to say that this is my all-time favorite one. I took the basic directions from my Patchwork Purse and Card Gift Set Tutorial and stepped it up quite a bit. I just had to try it using designer paper instead of just card stock!

I used a retired designer paper from Stampin’ Up! which is called Rainbow Sherbet which I absolutely love. I went back to the 1-1/2″ squares from my first patchwork purse gift bag but this time, each one is glued and sewn in place. I added a band at the top and bottom of the purse and used buttons instead of brads on this one.

I changed up the cards just a little as well, although I still stuck with the main card layout that’s in the tutorial. I opted to use the flower stamps from the Punched Posies stamp set which is a Level 2 Hostess Set in the 2010 Summer Mini Catalog. It seemed to work awesome with the design in the Rainbow Sherbet designer paper. Of course, I had to do some machine stitching on the cards as well to have them match the bag perfectly. I left the insides of the cards blank white so that they can be used for any occasion. This makes the gift set much more versatile in the long run.

As a bonus, I made a matching beaded pen to go with it. All of this fits nicely in the gift bag.

As I mentioned, this is my favorite one so far. In fact, this one turned out so nice that I’m selling this one. It’s a one-of-a-kind so once it’s gone, it’s gone! If you’re interested in checking it out, it can be purchased from our online store here.

Make sure you check out the additional images on the additional images tab in the store’s product description. I didn’t want to include them all here and clog up inboxes of those of you who view our blog via RSS feed.

If you’d like to make one of your very own, the tutorial for the patchwork purse and cards that I shared over the weekend is available here. You can adapt the purse bag any way you’d like for a different look – you’re only limited by your imagination!

I would love to know what you think. Leave me a comment and let me know!

Happy Stamping
