I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I’m back with a cute card made with one of the new sets in the
2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog.  It’s called Aviary and it’s FULL of cute little birds and bird cages.
My first thoughts for this set was to stamp the bird cage onto transparency and pop it up for a dimensional look.  I actually embossed the bird cage with black embossing powder.  You do have to be careful though and try not to hold your heat gun in the same spot too long or you will warp your transparency.
I used a layout similar to a previous card I showed you here on the blog – the
New Home card. I think that it’s a format I’ll turn to time and time again as it’ gives you a square card front, but it’s still an A2-Invitation size card which fits in a standard envelope.
If you check out this bottom picture, you can really see how the depth plays into the illusion that the bird is in the cage.  The shadows from the stamped cage look like they’ve wrapped around the little birdie.  You can click on the images to view them larger.
