Lightbulb A Little Mojo with the Greeting Card Kids

Although I wasn’t sure if I really liked this card at first, it has definitely grown on me. I’m sure you all know that I like ribbon, dimension and busy cards – and this one has all three! Might be a little over the top, but I’m pleased with it.

I tried several different variations on coloring the image to match the Candy Cane designer paper and tossed several of them. I’ll probably use this coloring scenario again in the future as I really like it.

This is the first time I’ve played with the Waffle Paper from the new 2010-2011 Holiday Mini Catalog. It’s a lot easier to work with than I originally thought it would be. You get a ton of it too for only $9.95 – 5 yards each of two different colors. Assortment 1 has Metallic Gold and Metallic Silver. Assortment 2 has Basic Black and Early Espresso which is perfect for Autumn and Halloween projects.

Do you see that ric rac that I used? I LOVE it! That’s made with the new Tasteful Trim die. This has to be my all time favorite die from Stampin’ Up! I’m sure you’re going to see ric rac on all sorts of projects now.LOL!

My card layout came from this week’s sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday. I had to tuck my ribbon in behind the image though because it covered up to much if I put it over the top. I also centered up my background layers and made the two side pieces the same size. I tried the way it is in my sketch but it just looked a little off to me – probably because I used the same designer paper print on both outside edges. If I’d have used three different papers, it probably would have worked out just fine. But, you don’t have to follow the sketch exactly – just be inspired by it.and I was!

For the inside, I used the new Bright Christmas stamp set for the sentiment. It’s perfect for this card I think.

Here’s a close-up of the coloring. Love using the Blender Pens to color now that I have figured out how to use it. The trick is to not color too much in the same area. You can let it dry and come back later to add more color if you want, but if you color too much in the same area, it will tear up your paper – even SU!’s quality card stock!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Stamping
