When I was creating yesterday’s card for the one layer card challenge, I tried a couple of different techniques before I was happy with it.  But when it was time to put stuff away, I realized that these were just too pretty to toss, so I made cards out of them as well.
The first one here is very similar to my final card from yesterday.  However, on this version, I have layered it on top of Whisper White card stock and then mounted it onto a Tempting Turquoise card base.  Because it’s not the entire card being inserted into the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, I was able to have the larger snowflake at the top of the card instead of at the bottom.  I changed the ribbon from the basic Satin Ribbon to th e 5/8″ Organza Ribbon – it’s just more elegant, I think.  I added a few pearls to the centers of the snowflakes as well.  I think you may be able to see the shimmer from my homemade shimmer mist in these photos a little better you could in yesterdays.
Yes, I like this version much better than yesterday’s card.  But, what can I say?  I love layers and dimension.  Plus, I think the different mats really frame the card front out better.
Now, when I created the card front for the card below, I was thinking of dark navy blue along with silver and white accents.  But when it came time to make a card with the embossed snowflake front, I saw something different.  How about a patriotic Christmas card.  I think this is perfect to give to a service member for Christmas.  What do you think?
What did I do differently on this one?  Well, for starters, I didn’t emboss the En Francais background stamp on the back.  What I did was brayer the Night of Navy ink onto the Northern Flurry embossing folder and then I “stamped” the un-inked En Francais background stamp onto the brayered ink to lift off some color.  I did the same thing with snowflake stamps from the Serene Snowflakes stamp set.  You can really see the small snowflakes up in the top edge if you look closely.  I the spritzed the whole thing with my homemade Frost White shimmer mist (5-6 drops of Shimmer Paint mixed with isopropyl alcohol in a small spray bottle).  I had the little star buttons and red pearls in my stash and thought they made a nice addition.
Here are some additional photos.  If you have any questions, just let me know.
