I took part in a new sketch challenge this week. I actually have a whole list of RSS feeds that are nothing but challenges.  I went searching through every single one of them looking for one that would work with this medallion from the Day of Gratitude stamp set.  I just love this set and wanted to play with it again.  I’ve been doing so many Christmas cards lately that I felt that I just skipped over Autumn cards and that is my absolute favorite time of the year – followed closely by Spring.  I just love being able to have the front door and the windows open.  40-50 degree temps at night and 60-70 degree temps during the day – HEAVEN!
Anyway, back to the sketch challenge that I participated in.  This week’s sketch is from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and the sketch was designed by Karen Giron.  The challenge is actually going on over at
Skipping Stones Designs though, so you’ll need to head over there if you want to participate in this one.
Although the sketch itself is square, I opted to just make a square card front but still use a standard A2 card base.  I did quite a few square cards last week, so I switched this one back to a regular greeting card so it would go through the mail.  The smaller ones I made last week are too small to go through the US mail service.
Do you see that fabulous Early Espresso mat behind my medallion?  That was made using the Top Note die.  Would you have ever guessed that?  One of these days, I’ll have to do a video on how to use the Top Note for the round medallion.  It’s going to have to wait just a bit though – my camera setup isn’t working out too well right now.
For the medallion, I colored with my markers directly on the stamp.  I used the Circle Scissors Plus to cut out a 1 inch circle out of the center and then matted it with a 1-1/4″ circle of Cajun Craze card stock.  I just felt the center needed some more dimension.  I used one of the big clear buttons that Stampin’ Up! used to carry and sewed it on using the Linen Thread.
Speaking of things Stampin’ Up! used to carry, if you haven’t checked out the Clearance Rack, you need to do so right away – they are adding so much stuff to it and you can get it at up to 80% off the original price!  This is a serious blow-out that you don’t want to miss.  Everything is while supplies last, so don’t put off ordering!
Hope you have a wonderful Thursday!  I’ve got an appointment with the DirecTV service people because I’m not receiving HD for some reason.
