Blender (Water) Pen
I just bought a new blender pen. Does anyone have any tips on how to use it? Reading on the back it says you need one for each family of color so the colors stay vibrant. Guess I goofed as I only bought one with a tip on each end.

Re: Blender (Water) Pen
I just had my first encounter with the SU! Aqua Pens several weeks ago.
My recommendation is to start with your lighter colors first and build up to the darker colors.
In between colors, dab it on a paper towel or scrap paper to clean up before using the next color.

Good idea, Brenda. I thought you might have some suggestions.
Thanks!

Re: Blender (Water) Pen
Here are some techniques to use with blender pens or water pens.
USING THE BLENDER PEN WITH INK PADS
Stamp an image using a water based dye pad. Use the blender pen to lightly stroke the outline color into the inside areas. This will result in an image with several tones of the same color; for example, a deep blue image with lighter, "watered down" blue inside.
USING THE BLENDER PEN WITH MARKERS
Stamp an image by coloring the rubber die of the stamp with water based markers. Pull color from the outline to the center areas by stroking with the blender pen, as above.
Use a blender pen to apply marker ink which has been scribbled onto a plastic plate, blending the colors just like you would blend watercolor paints with a brush.
Use a blender pen to soften the stroke marks left behind when you have colored an area with markers.
USING THE BLENDER PEN WITH WATERCOLOR PENCILS
The blender pen is perfect for blending watercolor pencil colors, eliminating the need for water and a paintbrush. The colors intensify and blend smoothly, and the paper does not buckle from being over-moistened.
USING THE BLENDER PEN WITH CHALK
Blend and moisten chalk colors with the blender pen to intensify colors and work the chalk into the surface of the paper. It will not need spray fixative to remain in place.

Stamping Up! has a FREE video in the Featured Projects section on this page (bottom left corner) showing how to use the SU! Aqua Pens.

Re: Blender (Water) Pen
It's a cool video, very easy to follow.
I'm finally going to get to back to using all the Stampin Up stuff in my craft room. Just needed some inspiration and I'm sure this forum will be the place I will get it.

Re: Blender (Water) Pen
Tammy, thank you for all the wonderful info. I didn't know I could use them with chalks also.
Brenda, what a great video. It sure helped to see how she actually used the pen. Thanks!
Sue, so good to see you here with us.
I envy you gals that have so many SU stamps, etc. I went to a party years ago, but there hasen't been a demonstrator here for a long time so guess I will be ordering online now. It's great to know I can.

Re: Blender (Water) Pen
Carol I messed up with them also! Yea, you are not alone, I kept on dabbing a paper towel while working with them... However, I do favor the Blender Pens 1st.
So, keep trying. Don't squeeze to much - let the pen and brush do the work..if you are shaking or tense you may have trouble.
